Please join me in congratulating Nic Brown from our Reno branch for being named Senior Vice President of A-1 National Fire Co.!
Nic joined the Summit Companies team as part of the January 2019 acquisition of ABC Fire and Cylinder Service, with offices in Reno and Las Vegas. As the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) for ABC Fire, Nic was responsible for day-to-day operations of a company with 80+ employees—offering design, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance services of fire extinguishers, pre-engineered fire suppression, fire detection & alarm, clean agent fire suppression, fire sprinklers, and high-pressure testing of cylinders. Nic started at Summit as FLS Manager of the Reno branch, working in that capacity over the last 7+ months while also being point person in integrating ABC Fire with A-1 National Fire Co.
Nic grew up in the fire protection business, working for his parents as they grew ABC Fire into a regional leader. Starting immediately after college in 2002, Nic held many field and leadership positions at ABC Fire—including Shop Manager, Lead Pre-Engineered Installer, Pre-Engineered Manager, and Sprinkler Designer. Furthermore, Nic started several departments at ABC Fire, acting as the initial Manager for both the Fire Alarm and Special Hazard departments. Nic took over as COO of ABC Fire in 2008 and served in that capacity until joining A-1 National Fire Co. earlier this year. Nic holds contractor licenses in the State of California and State of Utah. In addition, he holds 15+ other specialized fire protection licenses or certifications. Nic is certified as NICET Level II in Sprinkler, Fire Alarm, and Special Hazard. He also is manufacturer-certified by several organizations, including Ansul, Janus, Kidde, and Amerex.
Nic earned a Bachelor of Business & Management degree from Jacksonville State University, where he also played varsity baseball. He lives in Sparks, Nevada, with his wife and four children.
As the Senior Vice President for A-1 National Fire Co., Nic is responsible for all aspects of that growing subsidiary, including operations, administration, and sales & marketing. There are currently five branches in A-1 National Fire Co. (Las Vegas, NV; Houston, TX; Reno, NV; Salt Lake City, UT; and St. George, UT), with many more on the horizon as Summit continues its national expansion. Nic will continue to play a leadership role in operating the A-1 National Fire Co. subsidiary and in performing due diligence and integration of future acquisitions.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Nic in to his new role!
